A magnificent palace size early 20th century Persian Bakhtiari rug from the early 20th century. Large scale all-over design on a dark brown and navy blue ground with lobed diamond shaped medallions with attached top and bottom royal crowns flanked on either side by dragon heads having tongues with vine leaf extensions meeting along each side. Yellow gold sprandils containing animal heads with vine, leave and floral forms. The main ivory border is wide with an inscription in Farsi. Red, ivory, gold’s, green, beige and brown are other accents in the rug. Good overall condition throughout. Wool pile, cotton warp & weft
