French Château de Chasse, Saloon Chair, Original Unrestored Circa 1740. Very Rare, this piece was discovered neglected in cellar of a Château in the West of France, it was used by the countess allowing her to follow the hunt and be included in all the fun and feasting of the Hunt. The carriage has a green background paint and coats of arms of the family are painted on the chair. The coat of arms has a crown, this shows the rank of the family, it has rampant lion in the centre, a female face below with fierce animals (wolves I think) on either side. The chair is still quite a bright and colourful piece, there is a bit of a seat and the door window frame raises and lowers, the chair has some of a calico lining still visible lining the interior and it has a leather studded roof and the door is closed with a Blacksmith made Lock. This piece has been left as found, it has not been tampered with in any way, just gently brushed out to get rid of the dust, a museum piece ready to be restored The chair is 66” tall, 29” wide and 35” deep.
