Writing furniture on tapered square legs.
In the high frame there are two drawers, one above the other, which are worked “sans traverse”. The fronts are divided into three areas by thread inlays and pearl cords.
The middle surface is decorated with partly coloured floral marquetry. The lock closes upwards and downwards and thus also locks the lower drawer.
The pilaster strips are also marquetry, with optical surface extensions at the ends of the front legs.
The writing surface tapers upwards in a semicircle. To open, the writing tablet is pulled out by the two brass knobs, causing the quarter-cylindrical roller shutter to open automatically.
The interior consists of six drawers and four open compartments.
A folded laptop can be slid into the furniture together with the writing tablet when work is done.
Condition
Restored condition suitable for everyday use. The worktop is stable, the drawers run cleanly and smoothly. The fittings of the large drawers are not original, but match the style.
