Black Forest Style Hall Umbrella Stand or Garden Bear Sculpture in Cast Concrete

This is another one of our recent rare and great finds. We were given 1stdibs in buying several unique antiques and works of art from a lady who had to move to a smaller home due to old age. This concrete Black Forest Style bear was purchased 26 years ago from an antique dealer in the east of Holland (by her late husband) and it had been in their hallway ever since. Since we have never seen a concrete Black Forest bear before, we have no idea about the exact age. What we can see, is that the original bear stand was beautifully carved. Why someone took the time and effort to make a mold (which is very time consuming and often costly) and then only make one cast in concrete copy, is a mystery to us. However, we are pleased by that also, because that would make this old (or maybe even antique) concrete bear the only one of its kind. Despite the minor losses, this stylish, highly decorative and practical bear stand will make a stunning umbrella or stick stand to come home to. This rare work of art could also be used as a garden sculpture with maybe some water for the birds in it. No matter where you decide to place him, this bear stand will never fail to impress you or anyone visiting.
