Exceptional commode of Italian classicism decorated with fine marquetry.
Three-bay corpus on short tapered legs. The basic veneer is walnut, partly straight, partly diagonal.
The three drawers have two marquetry fields each, bordered by profile mouldings. Depicted are city views with partly multi-story residential buildings, churches and fortifications.
Inlays of the same quality and depiction are also found on the sides and top plate of the furniture.
Architectural surface designs of this type are known from the northern Italian regions of Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy.
Condition
Restored and in perfect condition. Hand polished with shellac.
