This rare and magnificently carved bookstand dates from circa 1880 and it is in truly excellent condition. The details in the carving and also the fact that virtually every inch is carved show this is the work of a master carver. Apart from one minor chip of a leaf there are no chips or restaurations to be found. This antique is as original and beautiful as one could hope to find. The top-quality carved owls come with the original and piercing glass eyes and it is very likely that this stunning bookstand originates from Brienz, Switzerland.
