A pair of mid 20th Century Italian walnut “Medea” chairs by Vittorio Nobili for Fratelli Tagliabue.
Set upon black lacquered steel legs, the walnut veneered bentwood sculpted seat follows an ergonomic form. First advertised in Domus Issue 329 in April 1955, they have become an iconic piece of mid-century design, ideal for antique collectors.
This particular model, the Medea, won the prestigious Industrial Design Award Compass d’Oro in 1955.
These chairs are a perfect representation of the organic modern style. The manufacturer’s mark can be seen on the underside of the seats.
