However, an enigmatic ‘VG’ label shown is shown on the underside of one of the chairs indicates a manufacturer other than Ercol. Plus on closer inspection there are small signs that this is a deviation from the original design.
Mainly the wooden seat itself is not tapered but instead has a more solid square seat. This is mirrored also in the back rail which is beautifully bent in one piece but has a square profile similar to the Windsor Chair Model 400, instead of the more well known rounded profile.
We love these subtle differences which add to the overall aesthetic of the piece.
This pair is in good original vintage condition. The chairs have some normal wear and both have some patina on their surfaces gained from their use over the years.
