The Abbaye du Val-Saint-Lambert was owned by Cistercian monks, followers of the rule of Saint Benedict.1 The monastery was abandoned during the French Revolution. In 1825, Jean-François Deneef settled in Val Saint-Lambert with the intention of creating a crystal factory whose quality surpassed that of the neighboring Baccarat.

Val Saint Lambert was founded by the chemist M. Kemlin, who was previously employed at Vonêche in the Ardennes. He soon achieves several medals due to the clarity of his crystal pieces. Val Saint Lambert is known for its art nouveau and art deco style in pieces.
