This handmade wool rug from Hosseinabad, Iran, features an intricate Herati design in deep shades of red and blue. The Herati design is a traditional Persian pattern, believed to be based on older Farahan designs typical of the region. The wool has been naturally washed and dried for a minimum of three months, creating a durability and warmth only found in authentic Persian rugs –– making it a perfect central addition to any room in the house either with midcentury interiors or modern. Would look great under a dining table or a coffee table.
The village of Hosseinabad is located to the north west of Iran, some 300km from Tehran, and is part of a region famed for their rug-making. Each village has its own style of rug, and as such no two are particularly alike, varying in pattern and colours.
