Rare lady’s desk in wood veneer decorated with inlaid wood and stained wood, and decorated with bronze fittings.
This period piece of furniture, with movement on all its fronts, has the particularity to be curved on its flap. This one is richly worked and encircled by a scalloped and chiselled bronze rod. On a four-leaf veneer, we find wood inlays forming large volutes. In the centre, there is a horizontal oval medallion depicting a plant scene with flowers and plants of different colours forming a bouquet, accompanied by a beautiful bird and a butterfly.
This flap is also fitted with a beautiful original bronze entrance accompanied by its key in working order.
On top of the desk is a tray with a gallery.
On each side of the flap, a bronze on the edge of the piece of furniture joins the openwork gallery at the top.
This upper part also has a floral composition.
The piece of furniture rests on four curved legs, the upper part of which is covered with a waterfall representing a child. Each foot is covered with a bronze edge ending in a bronze shoe.
The back of the cabinet is made of mahogany and is made of a single sheet without joints.
The flap opens with brass hinges forming dovetails. It has a dark red leather border with two cold borders, a gold vignette, corners and a central motif. Inside, there are two drawers with movement fronts, made of wood with an original brass knob and edge. The drawer bottoms are in mahogany. A sliding trap door with brass tab reveals additional storage space.
